Description
The McDonnell Douglas MD 520N is a light utility helicopter produced by Boeing. It is based on the MD 500 series and was first flown in 1989. It is powered by a single 542-kW (725-shp) Allison 250-C20R/2 turboshaft engine and has a maximum speed of 206 km/h (128 mph). The MD 520N features a NOTAR (no tail rotor) anti-torque system that uses two small fans in the tail boom to provide directional control. It can carry up to 6 passengers and has a range of 463 km (288 mi). It is used in a variety of roles, including law enforcement, search and rescue, medical evacuations, and aerial firefighting.
